SOME STATISTICS AND TRENDS OF ELEPHANT KILLINGS IN 2016.
            The statistics of elephants casualties given here are those collected from the daily news telecasts of one stateTV channel. The full numbers with all relevant details, are only available with the Department of Wild Life , but they are 'closely guarded secrets.'  The numbers given  here are certainly not the complete casualty figures for 2016 for the island or even for a district. However, they are an indication of the modus operandi of the killing of elephants by farmers in the Island.
